EE Toolbox Privacy Policy

This policy explains how EE Toolbox handles app data. The core principle is simple: the app is designed to keep calculations, settings, and scan text local on the user’s device.

1. Overview

EE Toolbox is a local-first electrical and electronics utility app for Android. It provides calculators, references, saved calculations, favorites, recent tools, and optional scan-assisted text capture.

2. Information stored in the app

EE Toolbox may store saved calculations, calculation notes, favorite tools, recent tools, settings, and scan text saved by the user. This data is stored locally in app storage on the device.

3. No account or app server upload

EE Toolbox does not require an account and does not upload calculations, saved results, settings, favorites, camera images, recognized text, or scan history to an EE Toolbox server in the current app design.

4. Camera and scanning

EE Toolbox requests camera permission only when the user opens the Scan screen. The camera is used for OCR-assisted component marking capture and barcode or QR text capture. Recognition is performed on device through Android and ML Kit components.

5. Network, location, contacts, and microphone

EE Toolbox does not require location, contacts, microphone, account, phone, or cloud sync permissions. The app is designed to work offline for its core tools.

6. Local data controls

Users can clear saved calculations, scan history, recent tools, and favorite tools from the Settings screen. Users can also remove all local app data through Android system settings or by uninstalling the app.

7. Backups and device security

EE Toolbox disables Android backup for local app data. The app relies on Android protections such as app sandboxing and device storage security. Users are responsible for protecting device access and any device-level backups.

8. Children

EE Toolbox is not directed to children. It is intended for electrical engineering students, electronics engineers, technicians, embedded developers, makers, and hobbyists.

9. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as EE Toolbox evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date or publishing a revised version of this page.
